The Native Vietnamese Breed Preservation Society is dedicated to helping the four native Vietnamese dog breeds (recognized and not recognized by the Vietnam Kennel Association - VKA) thrive and further any effort to dig into their health, genetics, history, and preserving breed integrity. The native dog breeds, also called Vietnamese National Dogs (Quốc Khuyển Việt Nam) are: Bac Ha Dog, Hmong Bobtail Dog, Phu Quoc Ridgeback Dog, and Lai Dogs (often lumped together with Dingo Indochina in Vietnamese media).
Our goal is to start by importing and establishing one or more breeds listed (which each person's goals will differ) in continental North America. They are rare primitive breeds with no international recognition or populations (except the Phu Quoc Ridgeback which has scant NA populations due to the few breeders available in the US and Canada). After breed establishment, we aim to have them recognized by reputable North American registries, such as the UKC, AKC, IABCA, or CaKC.
